My trusty microphone, camera, and I recorded a few great conversations in Mumbai that have never been released until now. So lets’ get started with a little thing I’m calling “Mumbai Memories”.Meet Ujval Shah from the state of Gujarat in India. He’s been doing and evangelizing Drupal for a long time — he’s worked with every version of Drupal from 4.6 to 8! Ujval was part of the first-ever Indian Drupal Camp in Ahmedabad in 2008, and he’s been generously speaking, training, and contributing to open source software for a decade.

Not even three months into 2017, and already two industry articles have appeared that claim that this is "the Year of Decoupled."If so, this is propitious development for Drupal, and the Acquia Developer Center. Because we've been publishing "decoupled"-related (AKA "headless," AKA "API-First") thinking for a while now.Wouldn't it make sense to start organizing it into one stream? That's what we thought. So here's our first installment of a blog series that will point to some of the best thinking on decoupled in general, and decoupled Drupal in particular.

In January of 2015, Accel-KKR, a private equity firm, combined Ektron and the Swedish company Episerver into a single company and CMS platform. This has caused many organizations to choose to migrate off the Ektron platform and onto a CMS like Drupal. Two factors are driving this trend: the high cost of an Episerver license upgrade, and the fact that the open source landscape has evolved significantly over the prior decade, to the point where many enterprise organizations (from private and public corporations to government entities) have embraced Drupal and the open source community.

DevOps is a much used term, but it seems like everyone you talk to has a different definition of it. Here's my own interpretation:DevOps is a series of processes designed to reduce the time between development and deployment. By reducing this lead time, development teams can gather feedback more quickly and iterate their solution, delivering value based on real data and customer feedback.

Among the most crucial steps in architecting decoupled Drupal-backed applications is to bridge the gap between Drupal and the designated front end so that the latter can receive and manipulate data on the Drupal data repository via API calls. For some frameworks, this can be a rather tedious exercise in navigating the server-side APIs and crafting the correct requests on the client side. Luckily, with JSON API now proposed as a core experimental module for Drupal 8, the tightrope walk between Drupal and Ember is about to become more of a cinch.

In addition, you can use it to build regular, repeatable migrations in Drupal 8 that can pull in data from a variety of sources. That’s why you should tune into this Tech Talk by Adam Jensen, Technical Account Manager at Acquia: (Don’t Hate) Migrate in Drupal 8.

If you, or a colleague, is wondering about why "community" is an important part of the Drupal experience, this course could be a good way to introduce the topic.Because community is an underlying theme that runs through many of the 20+ segments that make up the course. The section on Modules is a good example. Our instructor, Rod, explains the concept of "contributed modules," and illustrates how they work in practice using three specific modules: Book, Forums, and Telephone.
