We are pleased to announce that Commerce Kickstart has won the Walkthrough documentation prize. The prize, which was determined by votes from Walkthrough.it backers, will use the Commerce Kickstart Drupal distribution to showcase the capabilities of Walkthrough.it.
Commerce Kickstart is the quickest way to get up and running with Drupal Commerce. The distribution provides everything to create a fully-featured demo store out of the box, complete with theme, catalog, and custom back office interface.
By adding Walkthrough.it, Commerce Kickstart users will now be able to take step-by-step tours through various workflows. So not only will they have a fully-functioning online store, they will be able to handle a broad range of administration and customization tasks with step by step guidance, eliminating the need for endless back and forth trips to external documentation sources.
Drupal Doc Team Lead Lee Hunter is very excited about the possibilities for Walkthrough.it and has agreed to help develop the content for the Commerce Kickstart Walkthrough. He told us that he believes that “Walkthrough.it signals the end of the traditional tutorial with its reliance on lengthy descriptions and multiple screen captures. Not only will it be a dramatically better experience for the user, but the authoring and management of tutorial content will be much easier. In the old model, tutorials tend to go stale very quickly as the UI changes or different workflows are introduced, not to mention the difficulty doing localized screen captures.”
Lee will be working with Pronovix technical writer Diana Lakatos and the Drupal Commerce team to create the Commerce Kickstart Walkthrough collection which should be ready by July.
