In Chicago? Don't have a DrupalCon ticket yet? But you're reading this on a weekend?

Hi! I'm on a break here at CiviCON Chicago and just read your post about the extra ticket to DrupalCON! I've been able to attend CiviCON this weekend thanks to a scholarship for the non-profit website I built with CiviCRM, specifically fppoa.org I am representing here. My website development time is 75% non-profit, 25% small business (which is practically charity anyhow.... because they're cheap you see :)...).

I'm writing to plead my case, hopefully without sounding whiny or dickish.... I'm a seasoned developer, but new to Drupal, and Drupal aggregator feeds are new in my RSS since June 2010, thanks to this CiviCRM project for FPPOA. I had no idea about the DrupalCON scholarships until it was announced that they had already been awarded. I sure would have liked the opportunity to apply.

About the extra ticket you had, it may have been better to have allowed at least 24 hours from your post time before making the decision about who to award the ticket to, but I do thank you for not doing a "whoever posts the best comment gets the ticket" post, WordPress guys do that all the time and it's aggravating.

So... that was the whiny part, here's the (hopefully) non-dickish part. I don't have $400 to attend DrupalCON. However if I did have the money I still don't think I would have purchased a ticket. Allow me to explain - I attended WordCamp Chicago this summer, two full days with two tracks of similar sessions as DrupalCON, for just $30, and that barely paid for the free t-shirts, food, and schwag. DrupalCON by comparison is out of my reach, I don't know... maybe DrupalCAMPS are cheaper than WordPressCONs (or whatever it is, WordWorld?).

My point is, for me, there are not $400 of sessions at DrupalCON I am in need of. In fact, if there were any way to purchase a $50 ticket for the afternoon of March 10th I would have preferred that option. Though there is one session on the 8th I'd be interested in too about Module development.

Kindly contact me if something like this is possible, and it would be sweet if there was a spare copy of the new Drupal Watchdog magazine I could buy too! In exchange I'd be happy to intern for Agaric on a CiviCRM project.

Thank you for your time, below are the sessions I am interested in if we can work something out.

Introduction to Module Development
Time slot: March 8th, 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM

Drupal Commerce: Setting up Shop on Drupal 7
Time slot: March 10th, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Drupal 7 Theming Basics
Time slot: March 10th, 2:15 PM - 3:15 PM

Building awesome user interfaces with Drupal 7's Form, AJAX, and Theme systems
Time slot: March 10th, 3:45 PM - 4:45 PM

Thank you!
